[For that reason there acuatlly is no such thing as rel="follow"] is exactly what I was getting at. What I meant by bad code- I was just referring to the code rel="follow" which is what following your instructions above will result in (i.e., step 4). It is possible that readers new to the web could be confused into thinking "follow" is a valid attribute (or even required) for search engines without the clarification. Though I am somewhat biased by the confusion over it I have observed on various forums and mail lists. For the record, I wasn't trying to suggest you are intentionally steering folks wrong or anything, as I think you are providing a lot of really good information through your site, and it is obvious you put a lot of time into it.
